Regular Season Round 7: Rustavi - Olimpi 65-74

Bottom-ranked Energy Invest (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-65 loss to third ranked Olympus (5-1) in Rustavi on Friday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Energy Invest was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Olympus, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for Czech center Ivo Hoger (225-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Croatian guard Nikica Sljuka (187-87) helped adding 25 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). At the losing side center David Gugava (203-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Davit Artsividze (178-83) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Energy Invest's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Olympus. They moved-up to second place. Energy Invest lost their sixth game in a row. They still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Batumi. Olympus will meet at home Batumi (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Energy Invest will play against the league's leader Armia in Tbilisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
