There was a minor upset in Lappeenranta where 8th ranked Salon Vilpas (5-9) was defeated by tenth ranked LrNMKY (5-8) 72-56 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American guard DeAndre Haynes (187-84, college: Kent St., agency: Court Side) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jouko Jarvinen (192-87) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) who recorded 9 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Alex Vaenerberg (183-92) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. LrNMKY moved-up to eighth place. Salon Vilpas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. LrNMKY will face higher ranked UU-Korihait (#7) in Uusikaupunki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salon Vilpas will play at home against Kouvot in Kouvola.
