Regular Season Round 8: Queen's - McMaster 62-89
Date: November 25, 2011
The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Marauders' (4-1) road victory over bottom-ranked Golden Gaels (0-5) 89-62 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-62. Marauders dominated on the defensive end, holding Golden Gaels to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Golden Gaels 36-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Marauders shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Victor Raso (193) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and forward Cam Michaud (198) who added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Forward Nikola Misljencevic (196) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Mackenzie Simpson scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marauders have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Golden Gaels still closes the standings with five games lost. Marauders will face RMC (#7) in Kingston, ON in the next round. Golden Gaels will play at home against Badgers in St.Catharines, ON and hope to get finally their first victory.
