Kotwica (6-6) outlasted Zastal ZG (7-4) in overtime by nine points 92-83 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 26-23 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 9-point victory in overtime. Kotwica made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Zastal ZG was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Israeli guard Oded Brandwein (188-88) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners and American guard Jessie Sapp (191-86, college: Georgetown) chipped in 22 points and 6 assists. Kotwica moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Slask Wroclaw. Loser Zastal ZG dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Kotwica will face league's leader PGE Turow in Zgorzelec in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zastal ZG will play on the road against PBG Basket (#11) in Poznan.
