Regular Season Round 9: Valencia - Assignia M. 75-67

Date: November 26, 2011
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Valencia Basket (6-3) beat at home 8th ranked Assignia Manresa (4-5) 75-67 on Saturday. Assignia Manresa was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 18-6 charge of Valencia Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Assignia Manresa to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for naturalized Brazilian power forward Tiago Splitter (211-85, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Nik Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Javier Rodriguez (189-79, college: Boston Coll.) answered with 6 points and 10 assists and Hungarian guard Adam Hanga (201-89, agency: TSS Management) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Assignia Manresa. Assignia Manresa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valencia Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Caja Laboral and Lucentum. Assignia Manresa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Valencia Basket will face league's second-placed Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Assignia Manresa will play against Blancos de Rueda (#16) in Valladolid.
