Regular Season Round 7: Sokhumi - Kutaisi 61-84

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Sokhumi (5-2) against fourth ranked Kutaisi (5-2) on Saturday night. Host Sokhumi was crushed by Kutaisi in Tbilisi 84-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sokhumi. It looked good early as Sokhumi took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kutaisi had a 29-14 second period charge getting the lead and Sokhumi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-84. Kutaisi held Sokhumi to an opponent 24.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.9 percent accuracy of the winners and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Azerbaijan forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. International guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and international guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin, agency: Alti Sport) added 23 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sokhumi. Kutaisi moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Sokhumi. Kutaisi will play against Samedicino-Academia (#7) in Tbilisi in the next round.
