Everything could happen in Edmonton, AB at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Golden Bears and 3rd placed Cascades had identical 5-2 record. This time Golden Bears used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from Abbotsford, BC 79-57 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Golden Bears. Cascades was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Golden Bears forced 21 Cascades turnovers. Strangely Cascades outrebounded Golden Bears 42-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international guard Jordan Baker (192-91, college: Utah Valley) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Robert Dewar (211-91) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Joel Friesen (193) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and forward Kyle Grewal (198-88) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four Cascades players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Golden Bears. They maintain second place with 6-2 record having just -2 point less than leader UPEI. Loser Cascades dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
