Regular Season Round 13: Energa Czarni - AZS Koszalin 84-82

Sixth-ranked AZS Koszalin (5-6) gave a tough game to second ranked Energa Czarni (9-3) in Slupsk on Saturday. Energa Czarni managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 30-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Energa Czarni made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Strangely AZS Koszalin outrebounded Energa Czarni 37-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. American point guard Stanley Burrell (190-84) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 assists for the winners and Canadian center Scott Morrison (212-86, college: Portland St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). At the losing side American guard Stefhon Hannah (185-85, college: Missouri) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward George Reese (201-77, college: Ohio St., agency: Alti Sport) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Energa Czarni have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-3 record behind leader PGE Turow. AZS Koszalin lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Energa Czarni are looking forward to face Siarka Jezioro (#6) in Tarnobrzeg in the next round. AZS Koszalin will play on the road against Polpharma in Starogard and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
