Regular Season Round 8: Mitsubishi DD - Tochigi Brex 80-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins' (5-11) home loss to fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (8-8) 80-89 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-80. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Kazuyuki Nakagawa (180-82) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tochigi Brex moved-up to fourth place. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Fuchu in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play on the road against Panasonic Trians (#5) in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
