Regular Season Round 8: Toyota Alvark - Panasonic T. 86-74

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Fuchu. Second ranked Toyota Alvark faced 4th ranked Panasonic Trians. Host Toyota Alvark (12-4) defeated guests from Osaka (7-9) 86-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panasonic Trians. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Panasonic Trians was better in fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) who scored that evening 12 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Even 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) did not help to save the game for Panasonic Trians. Guard Hironori Watanabe (180-88) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-4 record behind leader Aishin SH. Panasonic Trians at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be Tochigi Brex (#4) on the road. Panasonic Trians will play against Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
