No shocking result in a game in Fredericton, NB where fourth ranked Capers (3-2) smashed 6th ranked Varsity Reds (2-4) 82-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Capers. Varsity Reds was better in second period 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Varsity Reds to just 5 points in first quarter. Capers held Varsity Reds to an opponent 21.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Capers had a 37-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Jimmy Dorsey (188) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Julien Smith (178) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Capers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Aaron O'Brien who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and guard Alex Desroches (193) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Capers. They moved-up to second place, which they share with McGill. Varsity Reds lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Capers will face higher ranked Huskies in Halifax, VS in the next round.
