A very interesting game took place in Antigonish, NS. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Tigers (1-4) to leader X-Men (4-0) 81-78 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-19. But Tigers won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when X-Men won last quarter 22-21. They made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Tigers turnovers. Guard Terry Thomas (193) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and forward Jeremy Dunn (198) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Casey Fox (193) came up with 18 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and Ritchie Kanza Mata added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Tigers in the defeat. Four X-Men and five Tigers players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for X-Men. They maintain second place with 4-0 record having 2 victories less than leader UPEI. Tigers at the other side keep the seventh position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
