Not a big story in a game in Guelph, ON where 6th ranked Gryphons (3-3) were defeated by second ranked Gee-Gees (3-3) 83-77 on Saturday. Gryphons trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 31-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-83 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was international guard Warren Ward (196-89) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Kareem Malcolm (183) who recorded 30 points and 6 rebounds and guard Daniel McCarthy (188) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Gee-Gees will face league's leader Golden Hawks in Waterloo, ON in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gryphons will play on the road against Voyageurs in Sudbury, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
