The game in Mahon was also quite interesting. Second ranked Canarias (9-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Menorca Basquet (6-5). Canarias defeated Menorca Basquet 72-62 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Menorca Basquet. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 44-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American forward Levi Rost (201-83, college: W.Michigan) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (205-76) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Canarias and four Menorca Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Canarias keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Lleida. Loser Menorca Basquet keeps the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Breogan. Canarias will meet at home Melilla Baloncesto (#5) in the next round. Menorca Basquet will play against UB La Palma and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ACB just one year after relegation.
