Kauhajoen Karhu (10-4) survived in overtime against Loimaan Korikonkarit (9-3) by eight points 92-84 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Loimaan Korikonkarit. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Loimaan Korikonkarit was trailing by 14 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-17 charge of Kauhajoen Karhu, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-9. Kauhajoen Karhu made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Loimaan Korikonkarit turnovers. Loimaan Korikonkarit was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) who recorded 24 points and 7 rebounds and forward Ryan McDade (201-80, college: N.Arizona) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four Loimaan Korikonkarit players scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Loimaan Korikonkarit at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will face Torpan Pojat (#5) in Helsinki in the next round. Loimaan Korikonkarit will play at home against Namika Lahti.
