Regular Season Round 11: Omegna - Perugia 86-69

Date: November 26, 2011
There was a small surprise when first ranked Omegna (10-1) beat at home leader Perugia (7-4) 86-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Omegna. Perugia was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Omegna dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Perugia's 34 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Omegna forced 21 Perugia turnovers and outrebounded them 32-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Guard Andrea Saccaggi (192-89, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Stefano Masciadri (200-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Davide Poltroneri (195-85) answered with 12 points and the former international power forward Luca Bisconti (206-82) added 12 points in the effort for Perugia. Five Omegna and four Perugia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Omegna. They maintain first place with 10-1 record which they share with defeated Perugia. Loser Perugia still keeps top position with four games lost. Omegna will face Firenze (#5) on the road in the next round. Perugia will play against Santarcangelo (#6) in Sant'Arcangelo.
