Regular Season Round 10: Sorgues - Rueil 88-97

There was an upset when higher ranked Sorgues (7-3) lost at home to seventeenth ranked Rueil (2-8) 97-88 on Saturday. Sorgues was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 31-20 charge of Rueil, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Mali guard Modibo Niakate (185-81, college: Cleveland St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. Georgian center Georges Mdivani (205-85, agency: Promotex) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Four Rueil players scored in double figures. Guard Arnaud Thinon (178-87) replied with 29 points and 4 assists and forward Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sorgues. Rueil moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Clermont. Loser Sorgues keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Rueil will face higher ranked Chartres (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sorgues will play against Vendee Challans (#11).
