Date: November 26, 2011
There was no surprise in Findon where 9th ranked Adelaide 36ers (2-6) were defeated by sixth ranked Gold Coast Blaze (4-3) 95-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gold Coast Blaze. Adelaide 36ers managed to win third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Adelaide 36ers outrebounded Gold Coast Blaze 43-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Dominican guard Adris Deleon (180-84, college: E.Washington) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and the former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) who added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Gold Coast Blaze players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gold Coast Blaze have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Adelaide 36ers stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Gold Coast Blaze will meet Cairns Taipans (#5) on the road in the next round.
