Regular Season Round 9: AEK/Argous - OFI 56-70
Date: November 26, 2011
Bottom-ranked AEK/Argous (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to sixth ranked OFI (5-4) 70-56 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by OFI. AEK/Argous managed to win second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AEK/Argous to just 7 points in first quarter. OFI made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Alexis Bardas (189-81) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Center Stavros Toutziarakis (210-87, agency: FCM) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. OFI's coach Chris Hugaz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Kostas Maglos (208-75, college: Boston Coll.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and naturalized Serbian guard Alex Stevovic (191-90) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted OFI maintains sixth place with 5-4 record, which they share with Ermis Lagkada. Loser AEK/Argous still closes the standings with nine games lost. OFI will meet at home higher ranked Lavrio (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AEK/Argous will play against Periko/Arhelaos (#15) in Perikos and hopes to get finally their first victory.
