Regular Season Round 9: TRU - Regina 110-100

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Cougars' (2-5) road loss to eighth ranked Wolfpack (4-4) 100-110 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Wolfpack. Cougars was better in second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Wolfpack forced 24 Cougars turnovers. Cougars were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Justin King who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Chas Kok (196) chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Paul Gareau (201) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Brendan Hebert (180) added 20 points respectively. Five Wolfpack and four Cougars players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wolfpack moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Lethbridge. Loser Cougars dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
