Regular Season Round 8: Hokkaido L. - Hitachi SR 64-62

The most exciting game of round 8 in the JBL took place in Saporro. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (10-6) to seventh ranked Hokkaido L. (7-9) 64-62 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. Hitachi Sunrockers cut a 15-point first quarter deficit to two at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Jai Lewis (201-83, college: George Mason, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Ryota Sakurai (194-83) chipped in 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Hokkaido L.'s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Panasonic T. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Hokkaido L. is looking forward to face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play at home against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and are hoping to win this game.
