Regular Season Round 9: O.G. Collegno - Marghera 56-77

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Marghera (3-6) outscored on the road 9th ranked Pall.Piemonte (4-6) 77-56 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Marghera. Pall.Piemonte was better in third quarter 17-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Marghera forced 20 Pall.Piemonte turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pall.Piemonte was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Bulgarian forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Greta Brunelli (176-90) chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was forward Costanza Coen (190-90) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard Paola Montanaro (168-89) scored 16 points and 4 steals. Pall.Piemonte's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Marghera moved-up to tenth place in North, which they share with Alghero. Pall.Piemonte lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Marghera will face league's second-placed Milano at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
