Regular Season Round 7: B.C. Habikaa - Elizur Ashkelon 93-74

There was a change at the Premier League leadership position after last games. Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Ironi Ashkelon (5-2). They were crushed by fifth ranked B.C. Habikaa (4-2) 93-74 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ironi Ashkelon. The game without a history. B.C. Habikaa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. B.C. Habikaa looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Ironi Ashkelon's players. It was a great evening for American guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 9 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). His fellow American import swingman Dion Dowell (200-85, college: Houston) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four B.C. Habikaa players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) responded with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Niv Berkowitz (190-86, college: Marquette, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) scored 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. B.C. Habikaa moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Ironi Ashkelon at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Galil Gilboa. They were replaced at the leadership position by Maccabi T-A. Ironi Ashkelon will play next round against Bnei Hasharon trying to make it back to the top of the standings. B.C. Habikaa will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Elitzur Netanya on the road.
