Bottom-ranked Novipiu CM managed to get the second consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time newly promoted Novipiu CM won against fifteenth-ranked Fabi Shoes Montegranaro in Casale 87-82. And what about a second win in a row after ...six consecutive loses. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-19. But Fabi Shoes Montegranaro won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Novipiu CM made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Novipiu CM especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American power forward David Chiotti (206-84, college: N.Mexico, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Mustafa Shakur (190-84, college: Arizona) who added 17 points during the contest. Five Novipiu CM players scored in double figures. Novipiu CM's coach Marco Crespi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Bulgarian power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American-Swiss power forward Greg Brunner (201-83, college: Iowa) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Novipiu CM (2-6) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Vanoli CR. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with six games lost. Novipiu CM will meet higher ranked Umana Venezia (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro will play against Benetton Treviso (#13).
