An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cesis. Second ranked Cesis faced one of their biggest challengers Daugavpils Universitate. Host Cesis (7-2) smashed guests from Daugavpils (6-4) 72-49. The game was mostly controlled by Cesis. Daugavpils Universitate managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Daugavpils Universitate to just 5 points in third quarter. Cesis dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Daugavpils Universitate's 26. They outrebounded Daugavpils Universitate 51-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Liene Bernsone (185-85, college: FIU) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Anete Horelika (177-87) chipped in 8 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Olesja Jevsejeva (174-86) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and forward Kristina Egle (177-86) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Cesis maintains second position with 7-2 record having four points less than leader TTT Riga. Daugavpils Universitate at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Cesis are looking forward to face Latvijas Universitate (#7) in Riga in the next round where they are favorite. Daugavpils Universitate will play at home against RTU-Merks (#4) in Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
