WJBL top team - JX Sunflowers (15-3) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Chanson V-M (7-11) in Shizuoka 70-66. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 34-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. JX Sunflowers outrebounded Chanson V-M 41-24 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) who scored 8 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Oh Okami (170-82) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Makoto Rin (168-88) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-3 record. Loser Chanson V-M dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Mitsubishi K.. JX Sunflowers will meet Denso Iris (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chanson V-M will play against the league's second-placed Toyota A. in Nagoya and hope to secure a win.
