There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Toyama Grouses (6-8) smashed at home higher ranked Chiba Jets (8-6) 100-61 on Sunday. The game without a history. Toyama Grouses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Chiba Jets' 22. Toyama Grouses had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyama Grouses made 8 blocks. Chiba Jets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Haakim Johnson (201-87, college: Pikeville) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Takeshi Mito (184-85) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists. American guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) added 12 points respectively for lost side.
