The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#1) and Asteras (#3). Athinaikos (8-0) smashed visiting Asteras (5-3) by 23 points 84-61. The game without a history. Athinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Dimitra Kalentzou (174-78) chipped in 17 points. Four Athinaikos players scored in double figures. Latvian center Zenta Melnika (197-91) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and American forward Sancara Jones (187-88, college: Missouri) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Athinaikos have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record, which they share with Esperides. Newly promoted Asteras keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Panathinaikos. Athinaikos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
