Regular Season Round 17: Komarno - Nova Ves 89-82

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Nova Ves (9-7) against fifth ranked Komarno (9-6) on Wednesday night. Visiting Nova Ves were defeated by Komarno in a tough game in Komarno 82-89. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But Nova Ves won second period 28-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Komarno won last quarter 22-16. American forward J.C. Mathis (204-82, college: Michigan) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Corey Jefferson (183-85, college: Texas St.) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Nova Ves. Five Komarno and four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Komarno moved-up to third place. Nova Ves at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Komarno will play against Vahostav-Zilina (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Nova Ves will have a break next round.
