There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (2-1) beat 9th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (2-3) in Urumqi 96-84 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 58-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Xinjiang Flying Tige dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Jiangsu Dragons' 36. Xinjiang Flying Tige forced 25 Jiangsu Dragons turnovers. American forward Kenyon Martin (206-77, college: Cincinnati) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds. The former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. Dutch center Dan Gadzuric (211-78, college: UCLA) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Nan Wu (196-89) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Jiangsu Dragons. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Xinjiang Flying Tige moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bayi Fubang. Loser Jiangsu Dragons dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will face Bayi Fubang (#9) in Ningbo in the next round. Jiangsu Dragons will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan.
