Regular Season Round 5: Ramat Hasharon - H.R. Le-Zion 76-61

Date: December 1, 2011
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (2-3) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Ramat Hasharon (3-1) 76-61 on Thursday. The game without a history. Ramat Hasharon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ramat Hasharon made 9 blocks. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward Jessica Breland (190-88, college: N.Carolina) stepped up and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 9 blocks (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and forward Porsha Phillips (187-88, college: Georgia) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Alexis Gray-Lawson (173-87, college: California) responded with 22 points and forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU) scored 6 points and 18 rebounds. Ramat Hasharon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Elitzur Ramla. Loser Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Ramat Hasharon will meet at home bottom-ranked Elitzur Netanya (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against B.C. Habikaa (#5) in Kiryat Ono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
