Regular Season Round 8: Impuls BGUIR - Tsmoki-Minsk 61-94
Date: December 2, 2011
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Minsk: Minsk-2006 (#1) and BGUIR-RTI (#5). BGUIR-RTI was smashed at home by 33 points 61-94 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as BGUIR-RTI took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Minsk-2006 had a 29-9 second period charge getting the lead and BGUIR-RTI was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-94. Minsk-2006 made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Minsk-2006 had a 36-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by international guard Aliaksandr Kudrautsau (190-80) who scored that evening 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Knox is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Minsk-2006 players scored in double figures. Minsk-2006's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds by forward Yuriy Ignatiev (198-91) did not help to save the game for BGUIR-RTI. point guard Anton Papruha (188-93) added 14 points and 7 assists for the hosts. Minsk-2006 (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. BGUIR-RTI at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Minsk-2006 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BGUIR-RTI will play at home against Rubon (#4) in Vitebsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
