The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Valmiera (8-3) on the court of fifth ranked Jelgava on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Jelgava in overtime 85-82. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Valmiera. Valmiera was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 18-12 charge of Jelgava, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-11. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Arturs Duselis (200-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Edgars Krumins (194-86) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Jelgava players scored in double figures. Power forward Jekabs Rozitis (206-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and American guard Jai Lucas (177, college: Texas) added 27 points and 8 assists in the effort for Valmiera. Jelgava (4-5) moved-up to fourth place. Valmiera at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Jelgava will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Valmiera will play at home against Turiba and is hoping to win this game.
