There was a minor upset when 4th placed Gold Coast Blaze (4-4) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Cairns Taipans (5-5) 87-78 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-78. Cairns Taipans made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Gold Coast Blaze was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany, agency: Pro One Sports) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
