Very important is a road loss of third ranked Jilin Tigers (3-3) against fifteenth ranked Shanghai Sharks (2-3) on Friday night. Visiting Jilin Tigers were defeated by Shanghai Sharks in Shanghai 85-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Jilin Tigers. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Sharks. Jilin Tigers was better in fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Sharks made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Jilin Tigers turnovers and outrebounded them 52-22 including a 35-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 22 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Ryan Forehan-Kelly (196-80, college: California) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) with 16 points and power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) scored 13 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Foshan. Jilin Tigers at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Liaoning H. and Shandong FB. Shanghai Sharks will play against higher ranked Liaoning Hunters (#6) in Yingkou in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jilin Tigers will play on the road against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
