Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Toshiba Thunders (2-16) lost to third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (12-6) in Osaka 60-69. Toshiba Thunders were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 26-14 third quarter run of Hitachi Sunrockers. The best player for the winners was international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) who scored 25 points. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) who recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain third place with 12-6 record having just two points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost.
