The game had a very big importance for second-ranked New Zealand Breakers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. New Zealand Breakers defeated 3rd placed Melbourne Tigers in Auckland 108-98 in overtime. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 17-16 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 10-point victory in overtime. New Zealand Breakers looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when New Zealand Breakers made 7 blocks. 29 personal fouls committed by Melbourne Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
