Regular Season Round 6: Qingdao E. - DongGuan L. 109-118

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked DongGuan Leopards (2-4) beat on the road higher ranked Qingdao Double Star (2-4) 118-109 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Qingdao Double Star won third quarter 34-31. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. American power forward Ivan Johnson (203-84, college: CS San Bernar.) replied with 39 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Lester Hudson (191-84, college: Tenn-Martin) added 30 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Qingdao Double Star. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. DongGuan Leopards moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Qingdao Double Star. DongGuan Leopards will face higher ranked Shandong Bulls (#7) in Jinan in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
