Regular Season Round 9: Tochigi Brex - Toyota Alvark 72-83

An interesting game for Toyota Alvark (14-4) which played road game in Tochigi against 4th placed Tochigi Brex (8-10). Second ranked Toyota Alvark managed to get a 11-point victory 83-72. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Tochigi Brex managed to win fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) nailed 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) accounted for 14 points. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Tochigi Brex in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aishin SH. Tochigi Brex lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Panasonic T. and Hokkaido L.. Toyota Alvark will meet bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tochigi Brex will play against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses (#2) in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
