The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked Okinawa GK's (11-4) road loss to first ranked Akita Happinets (11-4) 75-78 on Saturday. Okinawa GK was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 19-14 charge of Akita Happinets, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Okinawa GK outrebounded Akita Happinets 56-38 including a 43-32 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Curtis Terry (196-85, college: UNLV) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle, agency: VVG Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and American center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Okinawa GK. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Okinawa GK's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Akita Happinets maintains first place with 11-4 record, which they share with defeated Okinawa GK. Akita Happinets will face again league's second-placed Okinawa GK at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
