Eighth-ranked Saitama Broncos (5-8) were very close to win a game against third ranked Shiga L-Stars (10-5) on Saturday. Shiga L-Stars managed to secure only twelve-point victory 85-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Saitama Broncos were trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-17 charge of Shiga L-Stars, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-6. Shiga L-Stars dominated on the defensive end, holding Saitama Broncos to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 38. They outrebounded Saitama Broncos 47-29 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Panamanian forward Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-80, college: Arkansas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Yu Okada (184-83) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American point guard Kenny Satterfield (188-81, college: Cincinnati) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Saitama Broncos. Shiga L-Stars have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-5 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Loser Saitama Broncos keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face again Saitama Broncos (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
