Regular Season Round 11: GTK Gliwice - Stal Ostrow 55-83

Very expected game when 7th ranked GTK Gliwice (6-5) was rolled over at home by third ranked BM Wegiel Stal (8-3) 83-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. BM Wegiel Stal led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. BM Wegiel Stal forced 21 GTK Gliwice turnovers and outrebounded them 35-20 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Lukasz Olejnik (203-79) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The former international forward Wojciech Szawarski (195-76) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four BM Wegiel Stal players scored in double figures. Guard Tomasz Wrobel (180-85) produced 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and power forward Lukasz Nawrot (200-83) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. GTK Gliwice's coach Jacek Adamczak gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. BM Wegiel Stal moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Pogon Prudnik and Alba Chorzow. Loser GTK Gliwice keeps the seventh position with five games lost. BM Wegiel Stal will face MKS Skierniew. (#12) in Skierniewice in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GTK Gliwice will play on the road against AZS AGH Alstom (#10) in Krakow.
