Regular Season Round 11: Novum Lublin - Staco MNLK 79-73 OT

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Staco MNLK (3-7) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Novum Lublin (5-5) 79-73 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime then Staco MNLK managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Novum Lublin who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-5. They also forced 27 Staco MNLK turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Novum Lublin made 16 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Bartosz Ciechocinski (201-91) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Jakub Karolak (192-93) chipped in 22 points and 6 blocks (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Novum Lublin players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Wojciech Majchrzak (194-74) produced 25 points and 4 steals and center Fabian Mroz (198-88) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Staco MNLK's coach Jaroslaw Mosio let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Novum Lublin moved-up to seventh place in Group C, which they share with Tur Bielsk Pdl. and Wisla AWF Kr. Staco MNLK lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Novum Lublin will face Pulaski Warka (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Staco MNLK will play against Unia Tarnow.
