Regular Season Round 32: Aguilas Rojas - Barreteros 82-91

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Barreteros (16-14) beat 13th ranked Aguilas Rojas (6-26) in San Juan 91-82 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-21. But Aguilas Rojas won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barreteros made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Aguilas Rojas outrebounded Barreteros 36-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by naturalized American guard Forrest Fisher (193-84) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 assists and American guard Glenn Stokes (170-76, college: American, agency: R.H.Consultancy) supported him with 27 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Barreteros' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 36 points (!!!) and 15 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by American point guard Daryl Dorsey (185-81, college: S.Indiana) did not help to save the game for Aguilas Rojas. His fellow American import center Terrance Gamble (208-83, college: Tarleton St.) added 17 points and 17 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barreteros maintains eighth position with 16-14 record. Aguilas Rojas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 26 games lost. Barreteros will meet Panteras (#12) in the next round. Aguilas Rojas will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and hope to secure a win.
