Regular Season Round 8: Olimpi - Batumi 82-74

Bottom-ranked Batumi is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to third ranked Olympus (6-1) 82-74. It looked good early as Batumi took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. Then Olympus had a 25-10 second period charge getting the lead and Batumi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-82. Olympus dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 30. They outrebounded Batumi 50-34 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) who scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian center Ilija Milutinovic (213-88, college: Oakland, agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Olympus' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Irakli Mikeladze (179-94) added 16 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Olympus have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Batumi at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Olympus' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
