Regular Season Round 11: York - Guelph 62-77

No shocking result in a game in Toronto, ON where fifth ranked Gryphons (5-3) won against bottom-ranked Lions (0-8) 77-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Lions was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Lions' 28. They outrebounded Lions 43-26 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Daniel McCarthy (188) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Kareem Malcolm (183) helped adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. Gryphons' coach Chris O'Rourke used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Raheem Isaac responded with 17 points and Matthew Ziobrowski scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Gryphons moved-up to fourth place, which they share with UFV and Windsor. Lions lost their eighth game in a row. They still closes the standings with eight games lost. Gryphons will face Badgers (#4) in St.Catharines, ON in the next round.
