Regular Season Round 11: McMaster - Ryerson 86-73

Date: December 3, 2011
There was a minor upset in Hamilton, ON where 3rd placed Rams (3-5) were defeated by third ranked Marauders (7-1) 86-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Marauders. Rams was better in third quarter 20-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rams to just 6 points in second quarter. Marauders made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Rams turnovers. Strangely Rams outrebounded Marauders 46-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Victor Raso (193) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Center Taylor Black (201) helped adding 11 points. Marauders' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized Italian guard Luke Staniscia (193-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and international point guard Jahmal Jones (183-91) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Rams players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Marauders. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Laurier and Lakehead. Loser Rams keep the third place with five games lost. Marauders will face Lancers (#6) in Windsor, ON in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
