There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Fabi Shoes Montegranaro (2-6) defeated at home 13th ranked Benetton Treviso (3-5) 85-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fabi Shoes Montegranaro. Benetton Treviso was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro forced 22 Benetton Treviso turnovers. Benetton Treviso was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Serbian guard Ivan Zoroski (195-79) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 5 assists. American-Swiss power forward Greg Brunner (201-83, college: Iowa) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Fabi Shoes Montegranaro players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Massimo Bulleri (188-77) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Slovenian guard Sani Becirovic (196-81) added 14 points in the effort for Benetton Treviso. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro moved-up to fourteenth place. Benetton Treviso lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with five games lost. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro will face higher ranked Scavolini Pesaro (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
