Regular Season Round 14: Anwil - LKS Lodz 87-68

There was no surprise in Wloclawek where 12th ranked LKS Sphinx (3-10) was crushed by third ranked Anwil (9-4) 87-68 on Saturday. The game without a history. Anwil led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Anwil especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The former international guard Krzysztof Szubarga (182-84) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Corsley Edwards (205-79, college: Cent.Conn.St.) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Anwil players scored in double figures. Guard Michal Krajewski (180-84, agency: Promotex) responded with 14 points and American guard Jermaine Mallett (190-88, college: Missouri St., agency: Interperformances) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anwil maintains third position with 9-4 record behind leader Energa Czarni, which they share with Trefl Sopot. Newly promoted LKS Sphinx keeps the twelfth place with ten games lost. Anwil will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. LKS Sphinx will play against Trefl Sopot (#4) and hope to secure a win.
