3rd ranked Start Gdynia (8-3) fell to fifth ranked MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza (8-4) in overtime by seven points 100-107 on Saturday night. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 27-20. MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza forced 31 Start Gdynia turnovers. Strangely Start Gdynia outrebounded MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza 52-38 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for point guard Grzegorz Grochowski (176-93) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Piotr Zielinski (198-83) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Tomasz Wojdyla (201-77) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and guard Grzegorz Mordzak (183-77, agency: Promotex) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Start Gdynia. Five MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza and four Start Gdynia players scored in double figures. Start Gdynia's coach Pawel Turkiewicz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza moved-up to fourth place. Start Gdynia at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. MMKS Dabrowa Gornicza will face Olimp MKS Start Lublin (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Start Gdynia will play against MKS Znicz Basket (#6) in Pruszkow.
